Bun Burner Gold 3000 and Bun Burner Gold 5000K (Extreme rides)

BBG

This is a much more difficult ride, combining two BBG rides, back-to-back - in other words, 3000 miles or 5000 Kilometres in 48 hours.

Each leg of a back-to-back series must be completed start to finish in the time allowed for a single leg, AND all legs of a back-to-back series must be completed start to finish in no more than the total time calculated by adding the time allowed for each independent leg in the series. The term "leg" refers to the individual rides of a back to back series.

At the END OF THE FIRST LEG of your ride, obtain signatures on standard Iron Butt witness forms. The earliest time recorded on these witness forms will be the official end time of the first leg of your ride. If time is short and you cannot find a witness you may substitute one of the following: a time/date/place stamped signed receipt, or an automatic teller machine receipt drawn on your bank account. Then obtain witness signatures with all haste!

The beginning of the second leg of your ride officially starts when the clock runs out on your first leg, or when you obtain a time/date/place stamped receipt; whichever comes first. In either case you must obtain a time/date/place stamped gas receipt before leaving on the start of the second leg of your ride.

It is a pre-requisite that riders have completed at least a BBG , SS2000 or BBG2500K before attempting a BBG3000 or BBG5000K.

These much more "extreme" rides require two documented start and finish witnesses, start and finish computerised receipts, as well as all other fuel/meal receipts, a fuel log and a map marked with your route.
